Why Parent coaching with an OT?

We started off seeing Caitlin for OT services, but over the course of working with her, I realized that I needed to supplement with some direct work via parent coaching so I could better support my kid. Caitlin is incredibly knowledgeable about support strategies for neurodivergent kids, and helped me think about his needs holistically. Caitlin connected me to several resources (conferences, experts, podcasts) that ended up changing our trajectory in hugely positive ways. She is also a soft place to land, always offering me a generous and non-judgmental ear when I felt overwhelmed by the demands of parenting a neurodivergent kid.” - A supported parent

Do you feel like traditional parenting methods just don’t work? Are you exhausted from reading books, listening to podcasts (and more!) to inform your parenting approaches? As an occupational therapist who has been working in families’ homes for 13 years, I understand the needs of kids with common issues such as ADHD, executive functioning, sensory needs, sleep, toileting, and more.

What Is Parent Support & Coaching?

  • I offer personalized strategies and tactics that address the biggest issues you have with your kid(s). I aim to empower you to establish new approaches and feel more confident––resulting in lasting behavior change, better relationships with your kids, and improved family dynamics overall.

  • I also have extensive knowledge about current research and strategies to support neurodivergent children (and parents). If you’re looking for specific strategies to support a child who was recently diagnosed with Autism or ADHD, parent coaching could be a great starting point.

How Parent Coaching Works

  • These services are conducted using a secure video platform.  They are open to any interested families in Washington State. Parent support and coaching is different from direct occupational therapy, and not billable to insurance.

  • The initial coaching session includes a review of any reports you share with me and a sensory questionnaire for you to complete online. The results are shared at our first meeting (and via email, for your records) including:

    • Discussion of your top goals

    • Suggestions for you to try at home before the next appointment

    • Ideas to share with teachers, as appropriate.

Fees: $200 for the initial session and $165 for subsequent sessions (60 minutes each). After the initial session, these can be scheduled with varying intervals, depending on your preference. Most families choose 2-4 weeks between sessions.
